  • 1. Do I have to Book?

    Yes, please use the contact information (phone, email, or social media) to book a tour. Please book ahead so you can join in the fun and guarantee your place.

  • 2. Where does the Tour start and finish?

    All tours begin at the Steeple, which is at the top of Church Street in Inverness. Click on the map opposite to see a bigger version. The starting point is marked with a Yellow Star. All tours finish at Inverness Castle.

  • 3. Is the Tour suitable for people with walking difficulties?

    The walk is gentle.  The company enjoyable.  We try and make the tour as inclusive as possible for people with walking difficulties. We are supportive and would welcome the chance to talk to you if you have any concerns in relation to mobility issues on the tour.  All of the tours listed are one hour long and move along at a leisurely pace.

  • 4. Are Tours ever cancelled?

    Adverse weather may result in the cancellation or postponement of a Walking Tour. In this event, you will be offered a space on the next available Tour (where possible) or a full refund.

  • 5. What clothing should I wear?

    Suitable shoes are advised; however, the walk is gentle. Weather is subject to change in the Highlands so both a warm jacket for the sea breeze is advised along with sun cream in the summer.

  • 6. Can I pay cash on the day?

    The guides are able to receive cash on the day or a pre-paid PayPal deposit.

  • 7. Can I turn up on the day for the tour?

    Booking is required.

  • 8. Do the Tour Guides wear a Uniform?

    The tour guides are wear tartan and have the Inverness Walking tours sign so you can recognise them easily.

  • 9. Am I able to cancel my booking?

    Tours are non-refundable unless at least 48 hours notice is received.

  • 10. Can we be collected for the tour?

    The tour guide may be able to collect you from your location. Use our contact information to talk with a member of our team to see if this is an option for your booking.

  • 11. Where are the nearest toilets on the tour?

    Our guides will be able to direct you to the nearest toilets on the tour. These will tend to be in coffee shops, pubs or the train station. However, it is advised to do this before the tour starts as it will slow down the rest of your group.

  • 12. If we are late for the tour can we still join in?

    It is recommended that you turn up a minimum 10 minutes before the tour to ensure you can book or confirm your ticket purchase. If you are late, we reserve the right to shorten the tour. Our guides can try to accommodate one or two minutes lateness. If you know you are going to be late, call on 07518 236730.

  • 13. Am I able to receive an invoice for the tour?

    Invoices are only issued to on the Private Tours, and with 48 hours notice.

  • 14. Are we able to take photos?

    We welcome you to take photos, however please do not take photographs of the guides whilst the tour guide is speaking.

  • 15. Can we tip the guide?

    Positive feedback is a wonderful way to thank your guide, for example on TripAdvisor. Should you wish to leave a tip they will be very pleased, however this is not necessary.

  • 16. Is the tour in English?

    The tour is in English. Please contact us should you wish to hire an interpreter for the tour.

  • 17. Is there a limit to Private Tour Numbers?

    We restrict the tour to 20 people per tour. Private tours are by negotiation and so can cater for smaller or larger group numbers. Discounts are only available through private tour operators.

  • 18. How do I arrange a Private Tour?

    Please contact the tour office to arrange a private tour. Group sizes are by negotiation with the Tour office, along with any other questions you may have.

  • 19. Am I able to bring alcohol on the tour?

    Inverness City Centre has a strict policy to drinking alcohol in public. We have a strict policy that does not allow anyone to join the tour if they are under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

  • 20. Why do you limit group sizes?

    Some of the areas that we access are limited size wise. In order to provide a relaxed and safe environment for our guests we limit groups to 20 people. If you wish to increase the size of this please contact us and we can see if this can be adapted.
